2025 In Review: Best Moments and Achievements

2025 was a landmark year for GMT Great Masters of Time, defined by bold collaborations, standout launches, and a curatorial vision that continued to shape the conversation around independent and contemporary haute horlogerie.

An Iconic Beginning: Urwerk’s Monolith

The year opened with an object that is far more than a watch display. The Urwerk Monolith, "landed" at the GMT boutique, became an immediate symbol of the brand’s philosophy: breaking conventions, reinterpreting time, and challenging the traditional perception of what a watch can be.

Urwerk has long been part of GMT’s offering, but the Monolith represents its philosophy in physical and scenographic form. A radically unconventional way of presenting watches, perfectly reflecting the experimental and visionary spirit of the brand. An object that commands attention and sets the tone for a year defined by distinction.

March: Voutilainen and the Elegance of Complexity

March marked one of the highest points of 2025 with the presentation of the Voutilainen KV20i Reversed GMT Milano Edition, a collaboration that embodies the purest dialogue between independent haute horlogerie and curatorial vision.

A project that overturns the traditional hierarchy of the dial, placing the movement at center stage and celebrating the absolute mastery of Kari Voutilainen. An object conceived for true connoisseurs, combining technical rigor, timeless beauty, and an identity deeply rooted in Milan and GMT.

A Spring of Major Releases

Spring unfolded with remarkable intensity, bringing a succession of launches spanning very different languages and philosophies, all united by an uncompromising level of quality.

From the Furtif by F.P. Journe, an expression of extreme technical elegance and contemporary minimalism, to the birth of the CHANEL J12 Bleu, introducing a new and captivating chromatic interpretation of a true design icon. The latter was accompanied by a special event in our city, Milan, seamlessly blending fashion, design, and watchmaking into a cohesive narrative, enhanced by an extraordinary exhibition showcasing the full depth and exceptional quality of Chanel’s haute horlogerie.

MB&F raised the bar once again with the SP One, reaffirming its ability to reimagine the watch as an architectural, experimental, and deeply three-dimensional object.

An Expanding Selection: De Bethune and Grand Seiko

2025 was also the year in which GMT Great Masters of Time significantly expanded its curated selection, welcoming two names that stand as true pillars of contemporary watchmaking: De Bethune and Grand Seiko.

Although very different in language and sensibility, both brands perfectly embody excellence on a global independent stage. De Bethune immediately captivates with its futuristic aesthetics and extreme technical research, while Grand Seiko impresses through formal purity, absolute precision, and the profound cultural depth of Japanese craftsmanship.

The response was immediate, confirming GMT’s ability to read the present and anticipate the future of collecting.

The Grand Finale: Venus

Closing the year came a collaboration destined to resonate well beyond its launch: Venus, born from the partnership between GMT Great Masters of Time and Konstantin Chaykin.

An object that transcends mechanics to become a true cultural statement. Venus is provocation, reinterpreted Renaissance art, and unconventional horological engineering. Its bold, unmistakable design sparked immediate and ongoing conversation across the watchmaking world.

The launch culminated in a unique event in Florence, a city synonymous with Renaissance art and the perfect setting for a project of such conceptual depth. The 99 pieces produced sold out within just a few days, establishing Venus as both a creative and commercial phenomenon unlike anything seen before.

A Year That Defined a Vision

2025 was not merely a sequence of milestones, but the affirmation of a clear and coherent vision. Through objects, people, and ideas, GMT Great Masters of Time told the story of global independent watchmaking, building a narrative defined by courage, authenticity, and curatorial integrity.

A year that did not close a chapter, but opened many new ones.
