GMT – GREAT MASTERS OF TIME

The concept behind Great Masters of Time (GMT) was born in 2007 when the first boutique opened in Porto Cervo to select, promote and showcase a full range of non-traditional watches and properly show to all watch collectors the mechanics and the non-conventional, elegant style features of the Maison directed by ingenious Masters of Time.

In February 2010, GMT brought its concept into a new multi brand boutique in Corso Magenta 11, located in the historical centre of Milan, which rapidly became the best leading destination to discover High-End Independent Watchmaking and International Jewelery brands in town.

2021 marks a further development for GMT with the opening of the new Flagship boutique in Milan – via della Spiga 25 – in the heart of the Fashion district.

This is an important step for GMT that highlights the constant evolution and research made through the years while strengthening its role as a landmark for Independent Watchmaking and High-End Jewelery.

But the real history dates back to the 1960s when Giorgio Corvo started his Swiss watch distribution company in Italy and wrote indelible pages of Jaeger-LeCoultre history, including the resurgence of the Reverso.

Many things changed over the past 60 years in the industry and the company kept the pace until the new production and business models of the early 2000s placed Michele Corvo – son of Giorgio – in front of a choice: follow the philosophy of the new groups or bet on the young independent watchmakers and their new interpretation of time.

If you are reading this article you probably figured out already what was his choice and it may appear easy in 2024 but it was a very brave one for 2004, in fact it has started paying off just a few years ago together with the consacration of the independent watchmakers.

Today GMT Great Masters of Time is owned by the third generation of the family led by the exact same passion that allowed it to weave its name with the history of Swiss watchmaking.
