In the world of independent haute horlogerie, some collaborations go far beyond the creation of a timepiece. They represent a meeting of visions, philosophies, and deeply rooted values. The Haldimann H1-Flying Central Tourbillon GMT Milano Edition is one of those rare encounters, an exclusive series of just five pieces that embodies the purest expression of contemporary watchmaking artistry.

Nestled near Lake Thun in Switzerland lies a workshop that feels suspended between past and present: the Haldimann manufacture. Founded in 1642 and still owned by the same family, it stands as a remarkable testament to enduring craftsmanship and tradition.
Since 1991, Beat Haldimann has carried this legacy forward with a radical approach, eschewing modern automation and computer-controlled production in favor of true manual craftsmanship. Each timepiece is shaped by hand, guided by experience, intuition, and a deep respect for tradition. Today, his children Iris and Niklaus work alongside him, ensuring that this knowledge is passed on to future generations.

Haldimann does not simply measure time, it interprets it. Its collections move between function and concept: some models embody mechanical precision in its purest form, while others challenge our perception of time altogether, transforming it into a philosophical and visual experience. Creations such as the H8 Flying Sculpture, where the tourbillon floats freely without indicating time, or the H9 Reduction, which conceals time behind an opaque dial, invite the wearer to reconsider what it means to “read” time.

It is within this conceptual space that the collaboration with GMT Great Masters of Time takes shape. Both share a clear mission: to discover and promote independent watchmaking of the highest caliber, where authenticity, excellence, and individuality are at the core.
At the center of the H1-Flying Central Tourbillon GMT Milano Edition lies its defining feature: the Central Flying Tourbillon. Positioned prominently on the dial, its large, lyre-shaped cage rotates continuously, creating a mesmerizing visual rhythm. More than a technical complication, it is the soul of the watch capturing attention and embodying Haldimann’s distinctive aesthetic language.

For this edition, Beat Haldimann introduces a rare stylistic departure. The traditional Roman numerals, present in all his previous creations, are replaced by Western Arabic numerals, specially designed in collaboration with his daughter Iris. This subtle yet meaningful change marks a new chapter in the brand’s visual identity. The grené-finished dial, rendered in a warm 4N gold tone, is paired with elegant black hands featuring heart-shaped tips, enhancing both legibility and character.

Powering the watch is the hand-wound ZEN-H1 calibre, featuring a Central 60-second Flying Tourbillon, three barrels, a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour, and a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Through the sapphire caseback, the movement reveals only its essential elements, echoing Haldimann’s approach of removing the unnecessary to highlight the essential.

The collaboration with GMT is subtle yet distinctive: the word ‘Milano’ engraved on the caseback marks this union, celebrating the partnership without relying on prominent logos or overt branding. It perfectly embodies Haldimann’s philosophy: true luxury doesn’t need to announce itself.
More than a watch, this edition is the result of a genuine human connection. The relationship between the Haldimann family and GMT Great Masters of Time is built on shared values, heritage, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for time. In an increasingly industrialized world, this collaboration stands as a reminder of the importance of slowing down and preserving knowledge for future generations.

The Haldimann H1-Flying Central Tourbillon GMT Milano Edition is not simply a watch, it is a vision. A vision where time is not only measured, but experienced, observed, and interpreted.
